Seedlac
A less refined grade of shellac. Dark brown in color. Must be strained prior to using. One of the first shellacs used in the furniture trade and is useful in matching brown shellac finishes formed on many antique pieces.
Garnet
The next higher grade to Button Lac. Not as dark in color and has more of an orange hue when applied.
Orange
The most popular shellac used in antique restoration and in reproductions of antiques. May also be used as a sealer coat over dark woods to seal in oils and natural resins. Seals in pine knots.
Super Blonde
Shellac Flakes are the highest grade of orange shellac flakes. They are made of approximately 99% pure shellac resin. The super blonde flakes keep color true and give a refined clear finish. It is recommended to use denatured alcohol as a solvent to mix the flakes.
Use a high quality de-natured alcohol such as Bekhol to dissolve these flakes.
