Inlay Borders

Inlay Borders |
|
Ideal
for restoring antiques or enhancing new projects, sold in 36" lengths,
approximately 1/32" thick.
To use inlay borders, first rout or saw a groove in the wood. Make
the groove a little shallower than the thickness of the border, to allow
for sanding the border down level to the surrounding surface. Next
glue the borders in place by applying white or yellow glue to the groove
only, (if you apply glue to the border, it may swell and not fit into the
groove). If you are using veneers and inlay borders together, insert
the border into the face veneer (held together by veneer tape) before
gluing. When staining surrounding wood, protect inlay border with
clear shellac. |
